Lawyer Kujtesa Nezaj emphasizes that copyright forms the legal foundation that protects creators in various fields such as literature, music, art, and technology. It gives authors control over how their work is used and ensures they benefit from their own work and creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCopyrights are rights defined by the Law on Copyright and Related Rights. An author enjoys several rights by the very fact of creating a work. These rights are divided into two groups: economic rights and moral rights, which enable the author to control the use of their work and, of course, benefit financially from its use. Economic rights include, for example, the right of reproduction, the right of distribution, the right of adaptation, and other rights related to specific works. Taking a concrete example of a book, the author, upon writing that book, enjoys all the rights defined by law. However, in order for the book to be realized and published, the author signs a contract with a publishing house, for example, for its publication, and in this case transfers certain rights, at least the right of reproduction and distribution, to the publishing house,\u201d <\/em>Nezaj said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In practice, she explained that economic rights include activities such as publishing, distribution, translation, and adaptation of works, which are often carried out through contracts with publishing houses or producers. Meanwhile, moral rights guarantee that the author is always recognized as the creator of the work and that it cannot be altered or misused without their consent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, despite their importance, the enforcement of these rights remains challenging in practice. The most frequent violations are related to unauthorized use of works, including illegal distribution and copying without compensation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She also said that one of the main problems remains the misinterpretation of the right to personal copying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In addition to institutions, an important role in protecting copyright also belongs to authors themselves and users of works, she told KosovaPress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The lawyer also calls on authors to be more active in protecting their rights by using available legal mechanisms.
