The defense of the accused in the Banjska case has begun its closing statements at the Basic Court in Prishtina. Under high security measures, the accused Blagoje Spasojevic, Vladimir Tolic and Dusan Maksimovic were brought to court today. They are charged with the terrorist attack in Banjska in September 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The closing statements of Blagoje Spasojevic\u2019s defense were completed by his lawyer, Ljubomir Pantovic, who said that the indictment has no connection to his client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the lawyer\u2019s statement, the accused Blagoje Spasojevic said that he had considered pleading guilty, but at the same time stated that he \u201ccannot say that I am a terrorist\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lawyer Ljubomir Pantovic, while trying to defend the accused, said that the presumption of innocence has not been taken into account during this trial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Blagoje Spasojevic\u2019s defense lawyer, Ljubomir Pantovic, said that \u201cthe indictment is incorrectly drafted\u201d. In his closing statement, he claimed that all evidence of the Special Prosecution is \u201cuseless\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy client is accused of the most serious possible crimes. He is the second accused according to this indictment, immediately after Milan Radoicic. I must emphasize that it is a truly unclear basis on which criteria the Prosecution determined this ordering of the defendants. Secondly, the indictment has 121 pages and he is mentioned only three times, and superficially and in passing. Much more than him, other defendants who are not here are mentioned. And many more witnesses are mentioned in this indictment,\u201d<\/em> he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Before the trial panel, Special Prosecution prosecutor Naim Abazi requested life imprisonment for the accused. He said it has been proven that they had knowledge of and played a role in the execution of this attack with the aim of annexing the north of Kosovo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt is clear that the Special Prosecution is hiding behind the entire group of 43 people and wants the group to be tried collectively, while even today we do not know what exactly that person\/individual did, without a concrete specification of his actions and without a precise description of his actions. It is difficult, even impossible, to speak about concrete and individual criminal responsibility,\u201d <\/em>he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The lawyer of Blagoje Spasojevic, Ljubomir Pantovic, said that his client was arrested in his sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In Banjska, Zvecan, on 24 September 2023, the Kosovo Police faced a terrorist attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As a result of the terrorist attack in September 2023, 50-year-old sergeant Afrim Bunjaku from Vushtrri was killed, while police officer Alban Rashiti was wounded and \u00c7lirim Shaqiri, Mirsad Kryeziu and Sedat Dushi were injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nearly a year after the attack, the Special Prosecution on 11 September filed an indictment, with Milan Radoicic as one of the main accused as the leader of the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to the indictment, they committed the criminal offense of \u201cterrorist act\u201d and the criminal offense of \u201cserious acts against the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Kosovo\u201d. Some of them are also charged with financing the group and money laundering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In this case, Vlladimir Tolic, Blagoje Spasojevic and Dusan Maksimovic are on trial.
