Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Enver Hoxhaj has expressed concern over what he described as attempts to change the treaty of the Peace Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A few days after the Foreign Affairs Committee formed a working group to amend a paragraph of Article 2 of the agreement, Hoxhaj said that states must be serious about what they agree on abroad and implement it domestically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe way the former president in Davos, without initiating such a topic in the government, supported such a project was a violation. But I am even more concerned that the parliamentary majority is now attempting a second violation by trying to change the treaty of the Peace Board. Foreign policy is not a platform where wishes are fulfilled or egos clash, but a process where states must be serious about what they say abroad and implement at home… We cannot sign one thing abroad and take a completely different stance at home. My appeal is to put an end to this political circus and bring the draft law to the Assembly,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He was responded to by LVV MP Arb\u00ebresh\u00eb Kryeziu-Hyseni, who said that the majority is not against membership in the Peace Board, but that the idea is for the agreement to be harmonised with Kosovo\u2019s legal jurisdiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to her, apart from Albania, no other country has yet ratified such an agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTo change a paragraph of an article in the draft law for which we have considered there should be an intervention. In principle, no one is against it, I am referring to all political entities represented in the committee and the Assembly. The agreement was to form a working group where you, Mr Hoxhaj, were proposed as a representative of the opposition parties. I am glad, as I believe you will contribute professionally to the proper drafting of this bill… So far only Albania has ratified this agreement and no one else, as the idea is for the law to be harmonised with the jurisdictions of member states. There is nothing to worry about, and even less to make it look as if we are opposing it.
