Visar Azemi, an member of the Democratic League of Kosovo, is being interviewed by police investigators in the capacity of a witness regarding the issue of electricity meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Azemi, who entered the Police Directorate for Investigation carrying a large file, stated that he is presenting data he has cited himself, as well as information gathered from citizens of Kosovo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking to journalists, he said that the electricity meter scandal is being attempted to be downplayed by KEDS and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cToday I am giving my statement as a witness, presenting all the data, and trusting the Kosovo Police, the Prosecution, and the courts of Kosovo, I hope this will receive a proper resolution. I want to remind you once again that all these manipulations and this major scandal that started with electricity meters is being attempted to be minimized both by KEDS and by the government, in this case by the Ministry of Industry. They are saying that the deviations, which they themselves admitted and have removed some meters from citizens, measure accurately, but they are not explaining where the problem is. The problem is that electricity which was supposed to be billed at the cheaper tariff according to the decision of the Energy Regulatory Office has been billed at the more expensive tariff. Citizens have waited for hours for their devices to be put into operation, thinking they are using cheaper energy as allowed by the Energy Regulatory Office, but in fact the opposite has happened. This is the main testimony and the core scandal I am working on,\u201d<\/em> Azemi stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Azemi announced that during this week he will begin collecting signatures for a petition from citizens of Kosovo demanding compensation for their losses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He also called on KEDS not to remove any electricity meters without the presence of the Kosovo Police, saying that otherwise it would constitute a criminal offense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI am calling for interventions that remove evidence from the citizens of Kosovo not to be allowed, because these are criminal acts. I hope this process goes well and that citizens are compensated in the end\u2026 I have no further information; I was called as a witness. Now that the prosecution has started and authorized the police to handle this investigation, it is good news, as I said, and I am doing my job as far as I can and as far as it is my responsibility. Let me be clear: this week, as soon as possible, I will start organizing a petition across the Republic of Kosovo to demand the return of money that has been taken from citizens unfairly.
