According to them, the ruling party, Lëvizja Vetëvendosje (LVV), must stop the attacks and pressure on the Constitutional Court. The party of Ramush Haradinaj is calling on the entire opposition to unite, regardless of political ideology—right or left—but to build a joint platform for the upcoming elections.

The head of the AAK parliamentary group, Besnik Tahiri, said at a press conference on Thursday that they had submitted their comments to the Constitutional Court in support of President Vjosa Osmani’s decree.

He criticized LVV officials, saying they were putting pressure on the Constitutional Court, a day after an LVV deputy, Adnan Rrustemi, asked ambassadors not to attend meetings with the country’s highest judicial institution.

“For us, it has become completely clear and simple: if justice is served and the merit is considered, Article 86, paragraph 2, is very clear—clear as tears, pure as tears. It states that 30 days before the president’s term ends, elections must take place. Any other treatment is circumstantial. Another very problematic issue for us is directly related to LVV’s mentality to attack independent institutions. How can a representative of the people, a party with 50%, attack an independent institution, the Constitutional Court, and try to influence it politically, even claiming that some ambassadors want to destroy the Court? No, the Court was built and helped by others, it is not being destroyed. You are trying to destroy it because you want political influence,” he said.

Tahiri also stressed the need for opposition unity in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

“What I said about uniting the opposition from the beginning is very good; the opposition has delayed being united in its political platforms. And I think that any union that must happen against this government should not be only about political profiles, right or left, but should have a state vision—how to respond to a situation, a chaos that has engulfed this state. The discussion about the electoral race is separate. Neither then nor now have we opposed it. We think that above our party framework, above our ideological framework, it is the state, it is this institution. I think that as long as this is not considered, the opposition is weak. The opposition should not be afraid to unite fully. Unite on a platform, not ideology, but on what the platform will produce for this state in the next four years. Do you understand that while we are talking, the state blockade has caused extreme poverty, serious insecurity, and above all, endangers the state of Kosovo? That is why we are late on this. The discussion must go beyond right-left profiles,” Tahiri added.

The head of AAK deputies accused LVV of bringing Kosovo to the brink of collapse, arguing that the party is unable to make the state functional.

“For the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, our country, the Republic of Kosovo, is in the most serious post-independence situation, in one of the deepest crises, with many unknowns, bringing the state into a situation where, for more than a year, now entering the second year, there continues an experiment of legal and constitutional battles and the dysfunction of the state and government in performing the functions it should for the citizens of Kosovo. Today, Kosovo is in blockade, while the government is non-functional, the state is non-functional. The economy is on the brink of collapse, lacking both public and foreign investments, and enterprises and corporations face serious problems up to bankruptcy, including dismissal of workers and unpaid salaries. Imagine, LVV wins elections with 51% but cannot make the state functional because it is insatiable and wants to take even the institution of the presidency,” Tahiri emphasized.

Part of the press conference also included AAK deputy Bekë Berisha, who criticized the executive for the poor conditions of the Kosovo Police.

“The latest images we have seen in Kosovo police camps, especially in Mitrovica, but also elsewhere, are miserable, they are terrible. We are in a worse situation than ever, especially regarding security, seeing what is happening around us. I had urged this government, which does not want to govern, that even though it has all the numbers and the budget, it should not play games, especially with this sector—police, army, and intelligence. You have seen the budget being allocated, but the work is never done. The situation is bad. We will remain vigilant and monitor what happens in this sector. I had also asked them not to play games. Enough with populism, enough with lies and scams. Kosovo Police is in poor condition, not even uniforms or shoes are available,” Berisha concluded.

The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) considers that the decree to dissolve the Assembly after the failure to elect a president is in accordance with the Constitution.
