Why? Because this is where international trade physically moves. Here, supply chains connect to global markets. And here, business leaders, entrepreneurs, and diplomats arrive to turn agreements into concrete actions. This airport, our regional international airport ‘Adem Jashari,’ represents the practical side of economic cooperation. It is the infrastructure that turns dialogue into real results. That is why we chose this venue today and welcome you to our airport. Meeting at this entry point reminds us that strong economies are built on strong connections, and connectivity is the foundation of prosperity,” he said.

The Minister of Trade, Industry, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, stated that sustainable development will make Kosovo an extraordinary story beyond the Balkans.

As her priorities as Trade Minister, Kusari-Lila mentioned strengthening economic zones, promoting innovation, and highlighted strategic projects such as Brezovica and the “Pristina-Durrës” railway line.

“It is a great responsibility, but it comes from the belief that with sustainable development and a long-term vision, we will make Kosovo not only a success story but an extraordinary story, not only in the Balkans but beyond. Yes, there is a list of short-, medium-, and long-term actions that not only my ministry but the entire Government of Kosovo, which now has a full four-year mandate, will undertake. Regarding business reforms, we are currently working on reforms for the Business Registration Agency, as well as expanding its capacities and supporting systems. My approach is to build open, transparent, and communicative systems that allow businesses not only to complete registration and follow-up services but also to have security and trust in the system,” Kusari-Lila emphasized.

Emrush Ujkani from the Economic Council of Investors said that this economic dialogue aims to support Kosovo’s economic development and strengthen the country’s attractiveness for foreign direct investment.

According to him, the lifting of EU measures against Kosovo marks a new chapter of cooperation.

“It has become a space where we exchange views, sometimes even differing opinions, but always with a common goal: supporting Kosovo’s economic development and strengthening the country’s attractiveness for foreign direct investment. After a challenging year, especially last year with institutional uncertainty, we are pleased to see the formation of a new government. We also warmly welcome the lifting of measures by the European Union institutions, or more precisely by EU member states, which opens a new chapter for renewed cooperation,” he said.

Boguslaw Gertruda, Head of the Political, Economic, and European Integration Section at the European Union Office in Kosovo, said that the formation of the new government is an important step to get Kosovo’s integration back on track and to continue reforms.

According to him, the EU has been Kosovo’s largest donor, providing 3.7 billion euros since 1999.

“The main objective of the European Union in economic cooperation with Kosovo is to support sustainable economic growth and prepare the country for gradual integration into the EU Single Market. We are doing this through the Stabilization and Association Agreement… The Growth Plan also has a regional dimension, not only through the Instrument for Reform and Growth. A significant number of steps under the reform agenda are directly linked to the first pillar of the Growth Plan, economic integration with the EU Single Market, as well as the second pillar, the Regional Common Market. Advancing these reforms will allow Kosovo to accelerate economic integration, increase benefits from regional cooperation, and move closer to the EU Single Market,” he said.

Participants in the first Economic Dialogue of the year included representatives from EU countries and diplomatic missions in Kosovo.

At the Adem Jashari International Airport in Pristina today, the First Economic Dialogue for 2026 was held, where paths toward sustainable development of Kosovo and strengthening its position as a destination for foreign direct investment were discussed, KosovaPress reports.
