With less than an hour remaining until the closure of polling stations for the December 28 elections, Eugen Cakolli stated that by 5:00 PM, 38.9 percent of voters had cast their ballots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Now, ten hours into the voting process, our observers are reporting increasing interest among citizens to vote, similar to previous election processes. Voter turnout by 5:00 PM, according to DnV observers, is reported at 38.9 percent nationwide. For comparison, in the February 9 elections, turnout during the same time interval was nearly identical at 39 percent. The regions with the highest turnout remain the same, led by Serb-majority municipalities, especially in the north, followed by the Prishtina region, where turnout is 43 percent, about 5 percent higher than the national average. In other municipalities, turnout is the same or slightly lower than the national level,” <\/strong>he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Regarding irregularities in the election process, Cakolli noted cases where voters could not find their names on the voter lists, vote photographing, assisted voting, and temporary power outages in some municipalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “In over 70 percent of polling stations, there are cases where voters could not find their names on the lists or went to the wrong polling station. In fact, in 15 percent of polling stations nationwide, this phenomenon occurred up to 30 times per station, indicating an increasing trend. Regarding assisted voting, the trend remains the same as earlier in the day. What is noticeable is the spread of polling stations where this form of voting is more prominent.
