The Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Vlora \u00c7itaku, called on political actors \u201cnot to contribute to tensions in the municipalities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Referring to the acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti\u2019s visits to several municipalities and an incident involving the acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sve\u00e7la, and an LDK activist, she said that such scenes do not serve democracy in today\u2019s second-round elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At a press conference, she stated that the voting process has so far been calm, despite some minor irregularities in certain municipalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI call on all political actors and anyone holding public political responsibility to show maturity and responsibility today, avoiding any actions that could escalate tensions in any municipality\u2026 It is very important that there is no intimidation, no fear, and no abuse of power. Those vested with political and institutional authority must be mindful of how they exercise that power. We have seen unpleasant scenes even in Prishtina, where a citizen was surrounded by a person in power and security guards. Such displays, aside from being harsh and unhelpful to democracy, should be condemned by everyone\u2026 They must be careful not to abuse state resources and ensure citizens can freely choose who to vote for,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The PDK official also urged citizens to go out and vote in the remaining hours before polling stations close at 19:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI want to invite all citizens of Kosovo who have not yet voted to do so in these last three hours. Calmly, with dignity and conviction, because every vote matters,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
