{"id":77511,"date":"2025-10-17T13:41:31","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T13:41:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kosovapress.com\/eng\/admin\/?p=77511"},"modified":"2025-10-17T13:41:32","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T13:41:32","slug":"mass-protest-in-tirana-without-the-liberators-there-is-no-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kosovapress.com\/eng\/admin\/mass-protest-in-tirana-without-the-liberators-there-is-no-state\/","title":{"rendered":"Mass protest in Tirana: &#8220;Without the liberators, there is no state&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Protesters from various cities across Kosovo, Albania, and Europe have gathered at Skanderbeg Square in Tirana, where the \u201cJustice for the Liberators\u201d protest will begin in a few hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are demanding the release of the KLA leaders, whom they say are being unjustly held in The Hague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sami Hoti from Rugova, Gjakova, said he joined the protest because of the injustices faced by the KLA fighters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey should be released as soon as possible because they are being held unjustly. I appeal to all Albanians \u2014 anyone who feels Albanian \u2014 to join us in this protest,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Muhamet Beqiri from Skenderaj said that everyone, young and old, should be in this \u201cwonderful square for this wonderful protest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy message, and that of all here, is that the innocent should be freed as soon as possible, and that the former collaborators who killed and massacred should be arrested,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A citizen from Tirana, Aliu, said he joined the protest \u201cfor the blood of Albanians.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe KLA soldiers must be freed. I didn\u2019t come for politicians \u2014 they\u2019re all corrupt \u2014 I came for Albanian blood,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A citizen from Vushtrri said that injustice is being done to the people of Kosovo, as \u201cif the KLA is convicted, the entire Albanian people are being condemned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe stand in support of the liberators \u2014 thanks to them, Kosovo enjoys freedom today. Thanks to them, our children go to school freely, and all the progress we\u2019ve made \u2014 in the police, the army, and beyond \u2014 we owe to them. Justice must finally be served.<br>We have faced injustice since the post-war period \u2014 against Haradinaj, Limaj, then through the UNMIK Court which was incriminating and unjust, followed by EULEX, and now this Special Court based on falsified evidence from Serbia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besim Nika, who came from Belgium, said there is no state without the liberators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey are everything for Kosovo \u2014 the architects of the Liberation Army. Without them, the state wouldn\u2019t exist as it does today. This is the least we can do for them. They should return among us soon because, in truth, they\u2019ve been taken from us \u2014 our president, two speakers of parliament, deputies \u2014 they are the leadership of the country. There is no state without them. As you can see, today we have no real government, no parliament \u2014 without the liberators, there is no state; Kosovo cannot exist without them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The protest in Tirana is organized by the Organization of KLA War Veterans (OVL-U\u00c7K). At a press conference yesterday, organizers announced that more than 60 buses from Kosovo would travel to the Albanian capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A similar protest was held in The Hague on September 14, a day before the first defense witness \u2014 former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State James Rubin \u2014 was heard. That protest took place near the Special Court building and gathered around 10,000 Albanians from around the world.
