Fourteen polling stations in the municipality of De\u00e7an opened on time, and the electoral process for the October 12 municipal elections in this municipality is proceeding without any irregularities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the first three hours of the process, citizens of De\u00e7an have been coming out to vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Acting Executive Officer of the Municipal Election Commission, Fatmir Cacaj, said that the electoral process is going well and that all polling stations in De\u00e7an opened at 7:00 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe opened the polling stations as provided by law at 7:00 a.m. So far, the process has gone well; we haven\u2019t had any irregularities\u2026 We received the materials on time and distributed them as required by regulation\u2026 Even though it\u2019s early in the morning, the interest so far is good,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cacaj mentioned that the statistical record book is missing but that they are keeping the necessary notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t have a statistical record book, but we keep the necessary statistics as internal notes,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The manager of the \u201cV\u00ebllez\u00ebrit Frash\u00ebri\u201d Voting Center \u2014 the largest polling station in De\u00e7an \u2014 Hamit Qorraj, said that the election process there also began on time and that no irregularities have been recorded so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that, up to now, the number of citizens who have voted is not large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe process began well and smoothly according to procedures. At 7:00 a.m. it opened. In this school, we have six polling stations with a total of 5,114 eligible voters. The process is going well so far. The turnout has been low, but since it\u2019s early morning, I believe the number will increase as the day goes on,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From this electoral process, citizens of De\u00e7an expect positive changes that will better serve their needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Arif Ulaj, a resident of De\u00e7an, said he hopes for positive changes from today\u2019s municipal elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe expect something better, if possible to improve things\u2026 De\u00e7an has many needs, but hopefully some of them can be addressed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another resident, Ibrahim Lushaj, also expects changes in the governance of De\u00e7an.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes, we voted\u2026 I expect there will be changes, but it seems things might stay the same. The residents of De\u00e7an have many needs, even though most of them have been met, there is still more to be done,\u201d Lushaj emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Running for mayor of De\u00e7an are: Faton Selmanaj from Vet\u00ebvendosje Movement, Jetmir Prekalla from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Jeton Mushkolaj from the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Bashkim Ramosaj from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Natyra Ku\u00e7i from the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Shkumbin Demakuja from the Democracy Initiative, and Shefqet Tolaj from Guxo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
