The MP from the Serb community, Nenad Rashiq, has announced that he will run for Deputy Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo if, as he said, his turn comes and all the candidates from the Serb List have been exhausted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the continuation of the constitutive session for the 60th time, where MPs are expected to vote for the election of the fifth Deputy Speaker from the Serb community, Rashiq said that if his turn comes and the MPs of the Assembly vote for him, he will take the position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today\u2019s session is being held following the third ruling of the Constitutional Court on the constitution of the Assembly of Kosovo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf my turn comes, I have always said that I am a responsible politician. If my turn comes and if they vote for me, of course, I will take the position. For now, I don\u2019t know how the process will unfold, since the Serb List will likely nominate one or more candidates. But if they use up their candidates and my turn comes, I will run,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, he stated that he has not spoken with parliamentary parties from the former opposition to secure their votes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last time, Rashiq received votes from MPs of the LVV-GUXO-Alternativa coalition and several MPs from non-Serb communities, but he did not manage to secure the required 61 votes to take the position of Deputy Speaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI haven\u2019t spoken, because the last time I thought the conditions were ripe, that vote did not happen. Now I haven\u2019t seen that the Albanian political parties have changed their approach these days. It\u2019s possible, and as you said, the court\u2019s decision obliges all MPs to vote. I hope it will happen,\u201d Rashiq emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Constitutional Court, on October 8, published the full judgment following the complaint filed by the Serb List regarding the constitution of the Assembly. The Court stated that the Assembly has not yet been constituted and gave MPs a 12-day deadline to complete the constitutive process. The 12-day period began on the day the full judgment was published on the Court\u2019s official website \u2013 October 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
