By the end of 2024, a total of\u00a01,684,034 bank cards\u00a0belonging to clients in Kosovo were reported, including\u00a0debit cards, credit cards, and delayed debit cards\u00a0issued to individuals and businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the total number of cards for 2024, data also include\u00a0electronic money cards\u00a0issued by\u00a0Non-Banking Financial Institutions (NBFIs), totaling\u00a075,482 cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the\u00a0Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK), compared to the end of 2023, the total number of client cards increased by\u00a04.49 percent. The total number of cards at the end of 2023 was\u00a01,611,723. During the same period,\u00a0debit cards\u00a0increased by\u00a02.08 percent, while\u00a0credit cards\u00a0rose by\u00a08.2 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CBK reports that when analyzing the number of card transactions, results show that during 2024, the\u00a0age group 26\u201335 years\u00a0carried out the largest number of transactions using debit cards \u2014 of which\u00a052 percent\u00a0were made by men and\u00a048 percent\u00a0by women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This may indicate that this age group has a higher tendency to use cards for payments, which could also be related to\u00a0higher card ownership\u00a0and\u00a0more stable monthly income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Credit cards\u00a0allow their holders to make payments or withdraw cash up to a\u00a0predefined limit\u00a0set by the card issuer. The allowed credit can be repaid in full at the end of the predetermined period or in installments, according to the agreement with the bank, with\u00a0interest applied\u00a0by the bank on the utilized credit amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
