Serb List\u00a0MP\u00a0Igor Simi\u0107, at a press conference after the failure to elect a deputy speaker of the Assembly from the Serb community, said that this institutional position should have the approval of the majority of Serb MPs. He added that the lottery in the Assembly for the deputy speaker from the Serb community is unconstitutional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Simi\u0107 called on MPs from Albanian parties not to vote for unconstitutional decisions, alluding to the non-voting of another Serb community MP,\u00a0Nenad Ra\u0161i\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although Ra\u0161i\u0107 was elected as an MP from the Serb community in the Assembly, Simi\u0107 stated that Ra\u0161i\u0107 does not have the support of Serb List MPs nor the Serb population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSerb List will file a complaint with the Constitutional Court because the rules have been violated. I take this opportunity to call on MPs from other Albanian parties and communities not to vote for unconstitutional decisions. Everything will remain documented \u2014 what they did and how they tried to push Nenad Ra\u0161i\u0107, at any cost, into the Parliament without the votes of Serbs, using the votes of the Albanian people, to take a position that belongs to the Serb people. Now they are trying to assign him the position of deputy speaker of the Assembly, which does not belong to him, and, on the other hand, he cannot take it according to the rules,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Serb List proposed MP\u00a0Slavko Simi\u0107\u00a0for deputy speaker of the Assembly from the Serb community, but he did not receive the necessary support in three consecutive attempts. Consequently, Assembly Speaker\u00a0Dimal Basha\u00a0stated that his candidacy is exhausted according to the latest Constitutional Court ruling and decided that the election for deputy speaker of the Assembly should be determined by a lottery, based on the Assembly Rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the lottery, even Serb community MP\u00a0Nenad Ra\u0161i\u0107\u00a0did not receive the necessary votes to be elected deputy speaker in two attempts, while some MPs from Serb List also failed to secure votes previously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the press conference, Simi\u0107 was more reserved in answering questions regarding Serb List\u2019s connections with a suspect arrested in Croatia for espionage, but he said that none of them know her personally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Wednesday, a Croatian citizen and his Serbian girlfriend from Kosovo were arrested in Croatia on suspicion of espionage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They were remanded in custody by the Split District Court, where the Croatian citizen \u2014 who also served as a pilot in KFOR \u2014 is suspected of providing information about KFOR troop movements to his Serbian girlfriend, who allegedly passed this information to Serb List.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
