This statement was made during a discussion panel on the topic “How have the courts dealt with corruption cases in 2024?”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was emphasized that the level of corruption continues to be a significant concern for Kosovo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Executive Director Arb\u00ebresha Loxha Stublla said that the judiciary continues to not take high-level corruption cases seriously, KosovaPress reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have found that corruption remains a phenomenon that is concerning for Kosovo, and the same is emphasized by many other international and local reports. The judiciary in Kosovo continues not to treat high-profile corruption cases with the seriousness they deserve, which results in public officials, especially high-ranking ones, being untouchable and not being adequately punished by Kosovo\u2019s judicial system,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Loxha Stublla added that they found that high-profile corruption cases are being prolonged this year as well, with hearings, according to her, continuing to fail and be canceled, hindering the efficiency of the judiciary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis failure undermines the trust of the citizens of Kosovo in the justice system institutions,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
