Yesterday, Lajcak stayed in Belgrade, where he\nmet with the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, with whom, among other\nthings, he discussed the next steps in the normalization of relations with\nKosovo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He wrote in X that in the meeting with Vucic,\nthe focus of the discussions was the strategic outlook for 2024, but they also took\nstock on the state of play in the dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has\nrequested the annulment of the decision of the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK) to\nban the use of the Serbian dinar for cash payments in Kosovo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vucic said that he had a “constructive and\nvery useful meeting” with Lajcak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I emphasized the necessity for the\nestablishment of the Association of Serb-majority municipalities, the holding\nlocal elections in the north of Kosovo urgently, and I asked for support from\nthe European Union to stop further provocations coming from Prishtina”,\nwrote Vucic in his profile on Instagram, after the meeting with Lajcak<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the spokesperson of the European\nUnion, Peter Stano, the EU’s special representative for the dialogue, is making\nthese visits to Belgrade and Prishtina, in an effort to advance the dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Talks with President Vucic in Belgrade\nand with the Kosovar counterparts in Prishtina are part of his mandate, are\npart of his work and continuous efforts in terms of helping both sides to\nadvance the dialogue”, said Stano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Otherwise, Brussels asked the authorities in\nKosovo on Monday to postpone the implementation of the decision to ban the use\nof the Serbian dinar in the territory of Kosovo, in order to find a solution\nwithin the dialogue between Prishtina and Belgrade.\n\nThe Government of Kosovo has argued that the\nCBK’s decision is in accordance with the Constitution of Kosovo, but QUINT has\nsaid that this decision “raises concerns about the impact, in particular,\non communities with a Serbian majority”.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
