{"id":64443,"date":"2023-11-30T19:47:50","date_gmt":"2023-11-30T19:47:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kosovapress.com\/eng\/?p=64443"},"modified":"2023-11-30T19:47:51","modified_gmt":"2023-11-30T19:47:51","slug":"serbian-elections-in-kosovo-kurti-an-interstate-agreement-is-needed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kosovapress.com\/eng\/admin\/serbian-elections-in-kosovo-kurti-an-interstate-agreement-is-needed\/","title":{"rendered":"Serbian elections in Kosovo, Kurti: An interstate agreement is needed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2>Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Deputy Prime\nMinister Besnik Bislimi received today in a meeting the diplomatic\nrepresentatives of the QUINT countries and the European Union, with whom they\ndiscussed current topics and Serbia&#8217;s request to the OSCE to hold elections in\nKosovo on December 17.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Kurti emphasized that on this matter he has\nalready informed the OSCE that an inter-state agreement is necessary for the\norganization of voting outside the Liaison Office of Serbia in Prishtina, and\nthat the request for such an agreement must come from Serbia as an interested\nparty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He expressed his regret for Serbia&#8217;s lack of\nreadiness for such an agreement that would enable citizens of Kosovo who also\nhave Serbian citizenship to participate in the elections according to the best\nEuropean interstate practices for voting from abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contrary, Serbia a few days ago asked the OSCE\nmission in Kosovo, but not the official Prishtina, to be involved in the\ncollection of votes of Kosovo Serbs with dual citizenship for the parliamentary\nelections in Serbia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the past, Serbian elections were also held\nin Kosovo, where the OSCE mission was involved in the collection of votes,\nwhich were then sent to Serbia for counting.\n\nThis practice was allowed by the Kosovo\nauthorities until last year.
