The meeting between the chief European diplomat, Josep Borrell and the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Borrell will also meet separately with the\npresident of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and then a joint meeting is expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The European Union has announced that a\nhigh-level meeting will be held today within the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The EU has said that the Prime Minister of\nKosovo, Albin Kurti, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, will be\nreceived in Brussels by the High Representative of the EU for foreign policy,\nJosep Borrell, and by the emissary of the EU for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Borrell will receive Kurti and Vucic\nstarting at 08:00 in the morning in separate meetings, while there will also be\na tripartite meeting afterwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The focus of the emergency meeting\nwill be to find a way out of the current crisis and avoid further escalations\nand tensions on the ground, with an emphasis on license plates and the return\nof Kosovo Serbs to Kosovo institutions. There will be a statement to the media\nfrom the High Representative at the end of the meeting,” the EU\nannouncement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The head of EU diplomacy himself, Josep\nBorrell, in a post on Twitter said that the time has come to move towards the\nnormalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We need to de-escalate the situation,\nstop going from permanent crisis management and instead start moving towards\nnormalizing relations,” Borrell wrote on Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today’s meetings are held one day before\nthe entry into force of the decision of the Government of Kosovo to fine the\ndrivers of vehicles with illegal license plates issued by Serbia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The authorities in Kosovo have announced\nthat from November 22 they will start issuing fines of 150 euros for drivers in\nthe north who have cars with license plates issued by Serbia, which Kosovo\nconsiders illegal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Serbs in the north of Kosovo, where they\nconstitute the majority, have warned that they will oppose the imposition of\nfines, just as they have opposed the entire Government’s decision on license\nplates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
