{"id":53229,"date":"2022-10-23T09:56:24","date_gmt":"2022-10-23T09:56:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kosovapress.com\/eng\/?p=53229"},"modified":"2022-10-23T09:56:26","modified_gmt":"2022-10-23T09:56:26","slug":"changes-to-the-criminal-code-for-violent-offenders-receive-support-but-also-opposition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kosovapress.com\/eng\/admin\/changes-to-the-criminal-code-for-violent-offenders-receive-support-but-also-opposition\/","title":{"rendered":"Changes to the Criminal Code for violent offenders receive support but also opposition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The additional punishments that are planned to be included as amendments to the Penal Code for the criminal offenses of domestic violence, sexual harassment and rape, are considered to be contrary to the Constitution of Kosovo and an attempt to criminalize people&#8217;s civil rights.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is believed that these sanctions will\nnot have an effect on the reduction of these criminal offenses, that is why the\ntoughening of the punishments for the perpetrators of these offenses is\nrequired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proposals of the Ministry of Justice,\nwhich were then voted on by the Government of Kosovo, include additional\npunishments such as: a ban on running for public office from 3-10 years; ban on\npublic employment at all levels; the ban on obtaining a driver&#8217;s license for\nthe person who has been found guilty of these crimes; ban on applying as a\nstrategic investor from 3-10 years.
