The opening ceremony of\nthe Assembly was attended by the Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Atanas\nPekanov, the Bulgarian Minister of Tourism, Ilin Dimitrov and the Mayor of the\nMunicipality of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ABNA-SE, whose purpose\nis to enable cooperation between news agencies from the region, as well as to\ncontribute to the creation of a climate of peace, friendship and cooperation in\nthe Balkans, will also have a legal status as it will be registered in\nBulgaria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his opening speech,\nthe executive director of BTA, Kiril Valchev, emphasized the importance of the\nregistration of ABNA-SE and the further work of this Association. While\ndiscussing the importance of true news and the great work that news agencies do\nin the Balkans and throughout Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We already have\ncooperation agreements, and we exchange news every day with eight of the 12\nnews agencies that are part of ABNA-SE. And we are interested in expanding the\nsame cooperation with other news agencies, and this is really very important, to\nexchange confirmed news with each other”, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whereas, in his\nspeech, the current president of ABNA-SE, Sk\u00ebnder Krasniqi, said that since the\ncreation of ABNA-SE, hundreds of meetings have been organized and in all of\nthese, the need to register the Association was emphasized, following the\nexample of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt’s been almost 30\nyears since ABNA was founded as an organization, and so far, it has organized\ndozens of meetings that have made an extraordinary contribution to unification.\nDuring all these meetings, it was also discussed about the need to register as\nan organization and have official documents, just like other organizations. And\nas you can see, this day has come, with the expression of Kirill’s (Valchev) will and desire,\nand with our support, ABNA is finally being made official also with documents\u201d,\nsaid Krasniqi, who also recalled last year’s meeting during the 29th Assembly\nthat was held in Prishtina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through a letter, the\nPresident of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, also welcomed the 30th\nAssembly, who appreciated the cooperation of the Balkan agencies and bringing true\nnews to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The 30th General\nAssembly is an important opportunity for journalists from the 12 Balkan\ncountries to exchange experiences and information directly, which is also the\nmain goal of the Balkan News Room, as a common space for news from Southeast\nEuropean countries. This initiative is very important, because regardless of\nhow close we are, we must be able to cooperate without any external\nmediation”, said Radev.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bulgarian Deputy\nPrime Minister, Atanas Pekanov, in his speech, said that the news agencies are\ndoing what politics sometimes fail to do in the Balkans, which is close\ncooperation for the sake of the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I appreciate\nthis organization; you are very important to your audience. Politicians are\nnothing without you but you are doing more than them. This cooperation should\nbe an example for other fields as well”, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 30th Assembly\ncontinued its proceedings behind closed doors where a number of decisions are\nexpected to be taken. Balkan news agencies gather in this format once a year.\nThe 29th General Assembly of ABNA-SE was held in the capital of Kosovo, Prishtina,\nin 2021, under the organization of KosovaPress.\n\nOtherwise, KosovaPress became a full member of\nthe Association of the Balkan News Agencies \u2013 Southeast Europe (ABNA-SE) in\n2017.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
