Working groups from Kosovo and Serbia will meet next Thursday in Brussels in order to finalize the license plate agreement. This was announced by the First Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue of Kosovo Besnik Bislimi at the meeting of the Committee for European Integration.
“Next Thursday, the working groups from Kosovo and Serbia will meet to try to finalize the agreement on license plates. We hope that there will be a constructive approach from both sides that had a delay in reaching a solution, and the next meeting will be on April 20, while the final report on whether we have a solution or not should be released on April 21. Our side is negotiating in good faith, with the idea of reaching a final solution that will improve the current situation to a permanent solution and in accordance with the best standards of European Union practice,” Bislimi emphasized.
On September 21, 2021, the Government of Kosovo imposed a measure of reciprocity for license plates from Serbia. In the north of Kosovo, at the two border crossings Jarinje and Brnjak, there were protests and barricades for this decision.
