Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today welcomed the new US sanctions against the Russian oil sector and the so-called shadow tanker fleet.

"These measures deal a significant blow to the financial foundations of the Russian war machine by disrupting the entire supply chain," Zelensky said at the X platform.

"I am grateful to Joe Biden, his administration and the entire American people for today's announcement of a new package of sanctions targeting over 400 entities linked to Russia's energy sector. The bipartisan support of the United States really matters, and we feel it deeply."

Zelensky expressed gratitude for the British sanctions imposed on Russian oil companies, saying that London contributes to weakening Putin to finance aggression.

"We appreciate the UK's continued efforts to disrupt the operations of the Russian shadow fleet, which remains a key part of its oil trade. I am grateful to the UK for its steadfast support and decisive action against the the Russian war. By sanctioning two major Russian oil companies, the UK deals another significant blow to Putin's ability to finance aggression."
