On the eve of the completion of the first phase of works on the agricultural land drainage channel in Shtime, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Faton Peci together with the mayor of this municipality, Qemajl Aliu they promised that in the next year the next phase of the works will continue to go towards finalization.

This project worth more than 330 thousand euros, financed by the Ministry of Education and Culture, is expected to prevent the flooding of more than 200 hectares of agricultural land, as well as to have other benefits for the residents of the village of Godanc i Epërm and other villages of this part.

The Minister of Agriculture, Faton Peci, closely visited the works on this drainage channel with a length of about two kilometers.

Peci promised that after the completion of the first phase, he will allocate funds for the continuation of the other phases until the completion of this project.

"We are about to see the completion of the first phase of the works of a drainage canal, which will prevent the possibility of flooding approximately 215 hectares of agricultural land, which is an investment of the Ministry of Agriculture for the Municipality of Shtime, as there are also investments in other municipalities. In view of this, it is worth noting that this is the first phase and in the following two years we will continue and commit funds as the Minister of Agriculture to continue such projects in some municipalities with drainage canals. I congratulate the mayor for all the commitments and good work he has done in this project and that the other phases are expected in the following years for the Municipality of Shtime", said Peci.

The Mayor of Shtime, Qemajl Aliu said that this project has been welcomed by all residents of this municipality, due to its impact.

Aliu said that in addition to farmers, the construction of this drainage channel with an investment of 336 thousand euros was also enjoyed by the residents of the village of Godanc te Epërm, as according to him the latter had problems with pollution.

"One of the most welcomed projects by all residents of Shtime municipality. It is the first phase of a project, it is financed directly by the ministry that you lead. It is a drainage channel about two kilometers long, the total amount of this phase is about 336 thousand euros, and through this channel, more than 215 hectares of agricultural land are saved without being flooded. This was welcomed not only by the farmers due to the flooding of the agricultural lands, but also by the residents of the village of Godanc i Epërm where we are here because this channel, in addition to being flooded, during the summer season was polluted by the swampy land that was created for due to floods. We are hoping that the other phases will completely cover this part of the Municipality of Shtime", he said Aliu.

The agricultural land drainage channel starts from the neighborhood of "Zymberve" in Godanc i Epërm and includes the lands that extend from both sides of the river thus covering an area of ​​215 hectares, which passes through the village of Gjergjaj to the Sitnica River.
