In the meeting of the ambassador of the Office of the European Union, Tomas Szunyog and the mayor of the Municipality of Suhareka, Bali Muharremaj, it was promised for cooperation in new projects, and for a better social welfare between the EU and this municipality.

Ambassador Szunyog has said that these visits are important, since according to him, this is how the unity and joint action between the European Union towards Kosovo is expressed.

"It is a very important activity for us, because we want to show the unity and joint action between the EU and Kosovo. We talked about the economic development, the challenges that the municipality faces for the supply of electricity and water, which will make life better for the citizens. Even for the issue of security and businesses for their interests, we also included football a little. We also talked about the issue of education and population census", said Szunyog.

Meanwhile, the mayor of Suhareka Municipality, Bali Muharremaj added that in his meeting with Ambassador Szunyog, he talked about economic development, population growth, medicine and sports in this municipality.

"We talked about economic development in the municipality of Suhareka, population growth, medicine, and sports, and about a very good cooperation. We received the support of the EU for new projects and we will be together for a better special well-being", added Muharremaj.

After the visit to the Municipality of Suhareka, the EU ambassadors visited three companies in the industrial area, which won grants from the European Bank for reconstruction and development. Two out of three companies are supported by the EU, only one by the EBRD, the Metal "FIX" company.

Satisfied with the cooperation with the EU, the owner of this factory, Burim Devetaku, has stated that with their help he has invested in modern machinery where 80 percent are in the foreign market.

"With their help, we have invested a lot in modern machines, 80 percent of which are for the foreign market. The Municipal Assembly has also given us a great help. The number of students was divided by the school by 4-5 students, every year they become more qualified for work", he said.

Also, Szunyog has emphasized that these companies also employ students from vocational schools so that Kosovo has a qualified workforce.

"80 percent of the production made in this company is exported abroad to EU countries. This company already employs 15 workers and exports production. They also train vocational school students to know and work here, and this is an additional reason that Kosovo is trying to expand the network of vocational schools in order to have a qualified workforce", Szunyog emphasized.

Also present at these visits were the head of EULEX, Giovanni Pietro Barbano, the German Ambassador, Jorn Rohde, the French Ambassador, Olivier Guero, the Italian Ambassador, Antonello De Riu, as well as representatives of other EU member states.
