A 68-year-old woman has died as a result of being hit by a vehicle on "Ekrem Rexha" Street in Prizren.

Shaqir Bytyqi, spokesperson for the regional police for Prizren, told KosovaPress that the 68-year-old woman was hit by a vehicle at a pedestrian crossing at around 11:28.

"The 55-year-old male driver of his vehicle did not notice the pedestrian, who was crossing the road at the marked pedestrian crossing, and hit her with the vehicle. As a result of the accident, the pedestrian suffered bodily injuries and was taken to the emergency center of the Prizren hospital, from where she was sent for further treatment to the UCCK in Pristina. At around 17:15, via phone from UCCK Pristina, the police received information that the pedestrian had died," said Bytyqi.

By order of the prosecutor in charge, the victim's body is sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pristina for an autopsy, while the driver of the vehicle is detained for 48 hours.
