Manchester United are interested in appointing Sporting coach Ruben Amorim to their bench and are willing to pay his €10m (£8.3m) release clause, English media report.

The "Red Devils" need a new coach after the dismissal of Erik ten Hag on Monday, according to KosovaPress.

"Manchester United has expressed their interest in recruiting coach Ruben Amorim and they have said that they are ready to pay the release clause of 10 million euros," Sporting said in a statement to the media in Portugal, according to KosovaPress.

Amorim, 39, is a highly regarded coach who has won two Portuguese league titles with Sporting - including their first in 19 years - since joining in 2020.
