Starting from January 2025, students of the University of Business and Technology (UBT), in addition to lessons in foreign languages such as German and English, will have the opportunity to study the Italian language as well.
With the opening of the center, UBT students will be able to take the Italian language certification exams (CELI) at the UBT campus.
In this activity organized as part of the Week of the Italian language in the world, the ambassador of Italy in Pristina, Antonello De Riu, said that Italian is a language that has all the eras of history, art, culture, making it not only a tool communication, but also a bridge for a unique heritage.
"This is not only a milestone for UBT, but also an important resource for all of you who want to expand your language and cultural skills. This year's theme emphasizes books as bridges that connect generations, cultures, ideas, emphasizing their importance in preserving and transmitting our linguistic values. Italian is a language that spans all eras of history, art, culture, making it not only a means of communication, but also a bridge to a unique heritage. Learning Italian allows you to immerse yourself in centuries of history and traditions that shape the modern world," said De Riu.
UBT rector Edmond Hajrizi said that some of the reasons for the adoption of Italian as one of the official languages in UBT education are culture, experience and knowledge.
"The academic council of UBT has decided to approve the Italian language as one of the official languages in our study programs. We have many reasons for this - the reason of culture, the reason of the experience of knowledge that is already in the basic Italian language and culture for many centuries, and we consider that students who know Italian can generate more competence, more values, more experience, that can benefit", said Hajrizi.
The Italian language week is organized by the Italian diplomatic network every year since 2000-2001, to promote the Italian language as a point of cultural expression and identity.
