President Donald Trump has dismissed reports that the US and Israel will launch a military attack on Iran, saying he wants to reach a deal with Tehran.

"I want Iran to be a great and prosperous country, but one that cannot have nuclear weapons. Reports that the United States, in collaboration with Israel, will tear Iran apart are greatly exaggerated," Trump wrote on Truth Social, without clarifying which reports he was referring to.

"I would love to see a verified nuclear peace deal reached, which will allow Iran to develop and prosper peacefully. We should start working on it immediately and have a big celebration in the Middle East when it is signed and finalized," Trump added.

Recall, Trump yesterday reinstated his policy of "maximum pressure" on Iran, including efforts to reduce Iranian oil exports to zero, to prevent Tehran from becoming nuclear weapons. The move is a return to the tough US policy on Iran that Trump implemented during his first term. Iran said today that the strategy will suffer another setback.
