The deadline for political entities to submit their application to the Central Election Commission for participation in the parliamentary elections ends today at 16:00.

Until this time, the political entities (political parties, coalitions, citizen initiatives and independent candidates) must also submit the list with the names of the candidates who will compete for the seat of the deputy of the Assembly of Kosovo.

The elections for the Assembly of Kosovo will be held on February 9, 2025.

The spokesperson of the CEC, Valmir Elezi, told KosovaPress that after the end of this deadline, it will be known which political subjects will require certification for participation in the February elections next year.

"Currently, we cannot know the number of political entities that will compete in the Elections for the Assembly of Kosovo, which will be held on February 9, 2025. Only after the deadline for applications, we will be able to know which are the political entities that will require certification for participation in the elections and how much is the total number of their candidates", said Elezi.

Elezi announced that after the end of the application period, the CEC will review whether the applications are in accordance with the law and the certification process is scheduled to be completed by December 25, 2024 at the latest.

The draw for the ranking of political entities on the February 9 election ballot is scheduled to take place on January 7, 2025.

In the last parliamentary elections, which were held on February 14, 2021, 28 political subjects competed, of which 21 political parties; 2 coalitions; 5 citizen initiatives and no independent candidate.

The total number of candidates was about 1 thousand and 50 candidates.
