The last two elections have cost about 13 million euros, electoral reform is a necessity

During the last year, two electoral processes were held in Kosovo, and their organization cost the state budget about 13 million euros. The parliamentary elections held on 14 February cost 4.7 million euros, while the local elections held on 17 October cost 8.1 million euros.

Also after the completion of these electoral processes, the need for an electoral reform arose. This is required by the Central Election Commission (CEC) itself, but observers of the electoral process say that there is a lack of political will for such a reform to become a reality.

The spokesman of the Central Election Commission, Valmir Elezi, says that throughout the past year, they have been committed to organizing two electoral processes, for which he says that the CEC has managed to fulfill its constitutional and legal duties for the organization of these elections…
