Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama stressed today that the longer Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi's detention in The Hague continues, "the greater the stain on the international justice body."

Prime Minister Rama posted on social media the message of US President Donald Trump's envoy for special missions, Richard Grenell, who stated that "President Hashim Thaçi should celebrate today in Pristina and not behind bars in The Hague."

"Absolutely! And the longer it continues, the bigger the stain on the international justice body," Rama wrote on X, while sharing Grenell's message.

While congratulating Kosovo on its 17th anniversary of independence, Grenell said that former President Hashim Thaçi is being held unjustly in The Hague.

"This historic moment has been overshadowed by a grave injustice. The founding father of Kosovo statehood, President Hashim Thaçi, should be celebrating today in Pristina – not behind bars in The Hague," Grenell wrote on the social network X.

According to him, Kosovo's state institutions have failed to take the necessary legal action to end what he calls "injustice."

“Europeans have failed to act against this injustice for the past five years. And Kosovo’s state institutions have failed to take the necessary legal action to end this injustice – because of politics. This unjust imprisonment must end,” Grenell said at X.
