Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada says manager Erik ten Hag has the club's full support and is optimistic the foundations are being laid for the team's long-term success domestically and in Europe.
United finished eighth in the Premier League last season and Sunday's 3-0 defeat by Liverpool made it two defeats from three games this season, leaving them in 14th place.
"Erik has our full support. We think he is the right coach for us," Berrada told reporters before the match with Liverpool, according to KosovaPress.
"We have worked very closely together in this transfer window and will continue to work very closely with him to help get the best results from the team."
The last of United's 20 Premier League titles came in 2012-13 in Alex Ferguson's final season in charge and while winning the Premier League is the main objective Berrada said he needed to take a long-term view.
"We don't want to win just one Premier League and be satisfied," he added. "We want to create a team that is capable of competing for the Champions League, the Premier League and domestic cups on a consistent basis."
