Serbian students from Belgrade, who spent the night in Ingjije, about 40 kilometers from the Serbian capital, are continuing their protest march towards Novi Sad, where they will join their colleagues from this city to block bridges on February 1st.

Thus, they will mark the quarter anniversary of the death of 15 people after the collapse of a concrete shelter at the Novi Sad train station.

The students, who departed from Belgrade on January 30, are expected to arrive at the Novi Sad train station around 19:00 PM.

The students began their nearly 80-kilometer march on Thursday, around 10:30 am, from the Belgrade Faculty of Dramatic Arts.

The fall of the government - defeat for Vuçiqin or buying time

They stopped for a rest in Batajnica, Bova and Stara Pazova, where they were welcomed by citizens and went to Ingjije around 22:00 PM and spent the night in tents on a sports field, reports Radio Free Europe.

Belgrade students plan to support their colleagues in Novi Sad who have announced that they will block bridges throughout the city on February 1, three months after the tragedy at the city's train station.

Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said on Tuesday that members of this ministry will provide security for the student march, including accompanying them with ambulances and trucks with drinking water.

The tragedy in Novi Sad sparked a wave of mass protests across Serbia, bringing tens of thousands of people onto the streets.

For the past two months, protests have been led by students, who have blocked dozens of state universities. Their main demand is for the authorities to be held criminally and politically accountable for the accident in Novi Sad.

The bloody hand has become a symbol of the Serbian student movement.

The government and President Aleksandar Vuçiq, claim that the students' demands have been met.

The protesting students said that Vuçiqis not responsible for fulfilling their demands, adding that the demands have not been met and they will continue the protests.
