Three children and three adults were killed after a shooting at a school in Nashville, USA.

The incident happened on Monday morning local time, after which the suspect, a teenage girl, was shot dead by the police.

Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Don Aaron, Nashville, said the suspect had at least two semi-automatic rifles and a handgun, Don Aaron said, BBC writes.

Police have released an account of what happened, and when, during yesterday's deadly school shooting in Nashville:

Police said the suspect entered the school by shooting through one of the school's doors - which were all locked

The attacker moved from the first floor to the second floor of the school, shooting several times

Police received the initial call about the shooting at 10:13 local time (15:13 GMT) on Monday morning.

When the police arrived at the scene, they began to remove people from the area

After hearing gunshots from the second floor, police went upstairs and saw the shooter open fire

Police "shot" the suspect - who was fatally shot by two of the five officers at the scene

The attacker died at 10:27.

As a sign of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence committed in Nashville, US President Joe Biden has ordered US flags to be flown at half-mast until the end of the month.
