US President Joe Biden said on Tuesday that he and his wife, Jill Biden, will travel to the state of Hawaii "as soon as possible".
Biden spoke at a press conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, about his economic plan, called Bidenomics.
Stressing the need to talk about the wildfires that have ravaged the island of Maui, Biden said he has spoken with Gov. Josh Green several times and assured him "the state will have everything it needs from the federal government."
Biden approved the governor's request for an accelerated declaration of a major disaster, proving his commitment to providing the area with everything it needs, writes AA.
The U.S. has deployed almost 500 federal personnel to Maui communities to assist survivors, he added.
The financial burden caused by the fires has reached $6 billion with 2200 structures destroyed.
As the death toll rises to 99, authorities said Monday.
