While around 14 million foreigners are expected to visit Albania this year, the Albanian government is expected to introduce a series of changes that were approved in the Law on Tourism.

A draft law submitted for public consultation by the Ministry of Tourism stipulates that businesses that offer tourism services will be required to have as a technical manager an individual with special criteria, starting from a diploma that must be in this field, experience and protected foreign languages.

The accompanying report stipulates that in order to provide proper service to both locals and foreigners, the operator must have previous experience and must be employed in only one entity, reports tch.

"Tourist operators, having as their activity manager an educated person who holds a first-cycle university degree or has graduated from vocational secondary school in accordance with the scope of the business activity and has previous work experience in the field of tourism, will enable the provision of a better quality service to the client and will increase the demand in the market for their service," the decision states.

Not only to provide the best possible service, but also to increase competition in the region, the Ministry of Tourism stipulates in the draft law that Albanian tourism will be of higher quality, it reports. KosovaPress.

"Given that the activity of the tourist operator is carried out in cooperation with service suppliers inside and outside the country, as well as with foreign tourist operators, this draft decision aims to increase competition in the region and beyond," the decision further states.

The draft law stipulates that the implementation of a series of new regulations will improve the quality of the sector by 2025.
