The candidate for deputy from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Shasivar Haxhijaj, promises commitment to a stable economy for the country.

Haxhijaj has served in many key positions, offering a valuable contribution in helping the development of Kosovo's institutions after the war. Through his program, he aims to improve the economy, infrastructure and welfare of various social categories, including war veterans and families of martyrs.

The graduated lawyer with a rich experience in the state administration, in an interview for KosovaPress also talks about the Kurti Government, which he says is the weakest in the country's history. Until he stated that his engagement in the Assembly of Kosovo will be for the protection of the values of the war and for the advancement of the interests of the citizens of Kosovo.

With a successful career, including engagements in the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, as well as a contribution to the Kosovo Olympic Committee, Haxhijaj has promised to use this experience to contribute to the drafting and implementation of laws that will improve every aspect of life in Kosovo.

"I had the opportunity to serve Kosovo in many different positions and I gained an extraordinary professional experience. I will carry this experience of mine to the Assembly of Kosovo, either in the drafting of laws, their implementation, the implementation of the governing program and above all the protection of the values of the war. I will be a strong voice for all the citizens of Kosovo, for their interests, and I will not stop at all except those from whom I receive the vote, but I will represent all layers so that the citizen's life is more good... PDK competes with the number 131 and I personally have the number 52 and I invite the citizens not to forget this number", he says.

Haxhijaj emphasizes that PDK is committed to internal reforms and has a list of new and diverse candidates, with a strong focus on economic development and infrastructure. Meanwhile, he estimates that the candidate for prime minister from this party, Bedri Hamza, is a professional in all aspects to move the country forward.

"Since PDK lost the elections, it has taken the citizens' message very seriously and has reformed within its structures. This reform has also been reflected in the electoral list of the PDK. Today we have a list that is the best of the PDK candidates. There are over 64 new candidates who are competing for the first time and the entire list is of different profiles, almost every profile that Kosovo needs, and the citizens have something to choose from. Bedri Hamza is the best candidate because of his background as a professional in the field of economics. PDK is focused on having a development program, focused on the economy, infrastructure, we believe that for a four-year term, the entire road infrastructure will be completed with Bedri Hamza... Immediately after the war, PDK was formed. Within this framework, the liberation of Kosovo was the completed project, another big project for Kosovo was the declaration of independence, the building of institutions. If we talk about the big capital projects that have been done in Kosovo, they have the seal of PDK", underlines Haxhijaj.

He is critical of the current government. According to him, the country under Albin Kurti's government has stalled in key sectors such as security, diplomacy, and economy. According to him, this government has failed to fulfill capital projects and has created uncertainty for the citizens of Kosovo.

"For the first time, Kosovo has had the weakest (government) in its history. This government has stalled in almost every sector. If we talk about security, I consider that it is one of the areas that this government has failed, because our security today is in the most critical situation we have ever had since the war. If we talk about diplomacy, foreign policy, Kosovo has not had any recognition for four years, apart from that, for the first time, Kosovo has been put under sanctions, and many other things. The part of the economy and economic development has been a total failure because almost no capital project has been completed in Kosovo... I consider that this government has come to an end, and I invite all citizens to remove this government on February 9, because it is the weakest the country has had", he says.

Regarding his commitment to the Kosovo Olympic Committee, Haxhijaj says that he played an important role in the admission of Kosovo to the International Olympic Committee, opening opportunities for the internationalization of Kosovo's sports federations.

"One of the areas that I love and care about is sports. And in 2012 I became part of the Kosovo Olympic Committee, initially as the first vice president and in 2017 I became the general secretary of the Olympic Committee. During this period, I consider that Kosovo has had the greatest successes in the international arena but also domestically. With my contribution but also that of my collaborators, the Kosovo Olympic Committee has been accepted into the International Olympic Committee. Naturally, the greatest contribution here was made by the former president at the time, Besim Hasani, but alongside him I have also tried to give my contribution. The moment the Kosovo Olympic Committee was accepted, the path was opened for the internationalization of all federations and today, fortunately, all Kosovo federations are internationalized," says Shasivari.

Improving conditions for war veterans, families of martyrs, and other social categories, according to him, will be the focus of his work as a deputy.

"Not only veterans, but all war categories have been treated as if not worse. For the first time, the war veterans, the families of the martyrs, the disabled are being ignored by this government, it has not dealt with them at all. Even worse, they have not been heard about their problems, but with the program of Bedri Hamza, and we as PDK and I as a deputy will protect these values of the war as best as possible and we will take care that their well-being will improve ... Likewise, with Bedri Hamza's government, there is a promise that salaries will be raised up to 50 percent for all categories, so we will try to cope with the rising prices and inflation that has happened these four years", he says.

The campaign for the general elections in Kosovo will start tomorrow, January 11, while the elections are held on February 9.
