On the eve of the end of the four-year mandate, the Government led by Prime Minister Albin Kurti says that Kosovo has been adequately represented in the talks with Serbia in Brussels.
Government officials accuse Serbia of not showing a constructive approach to the dialogue and say that it is time for the EU to identify the party blocking the process - official Belgrade.
The opposition, meanwhile, criticizes the Government for its approach to the dialogue process, saying that with the Brussels agreement and the Ohrid annex in 2023, with the mediation of the EU, it gave up mutual recognition until it accepted autonomy for the Kosovo Serbs.
Klisman Kadiu, adviser to Besnik Bislim, the chief negotiator in the dialogue, tells KosovaPress that Kosovo accepted the basic agreement, but that the same was rejected by Serbia and the latter abuses every meeting at the level of chief negotiators within the dialogue process.
"In these four years, we have adequately represented Kosovo at the dialogue table and have shown our constructiveness and willingness to move forward with the normalization of relations. We have an agreement, the Basic Agreement and the Ohrid Implementation Annex, which must be accepted and implemented by both parties. Kosovo has accepted them in their entirety, is ready for signing and implementation, and does not violate them. On the other hand, Serbia does the complete opposite. It has rejected the agreement both verbally and in writing through letters to the European Union, it has refused to sign it, it has continuously violated the agreement... Serbia's destructive approach to the dialogue process has, unfortunately, gone hand in hand with its attacks on the ground against Republic of Kosovo. Serbia has tried, and failed, to create artificial issues in order to divert attention from the normalization of relations, the way forward, and the acceptance and implementation of the Basic Agreement and the Ohrid Annex. We expect the EU, as a mediator in the process, to clearly identify the party blocking the process, and that the main and only official address is Belgrade", says his written response to KosovaPress.PDK deputy, Enver Hoxhaj, tells KosovaPress that Prime Minister Kurti has brought damage to Kosovo in the dialogue, pushing away the final agreement with mutual recognition, as he has brought a statute of the association, which represents full autonomy for the Serbs in Kosovo.
Even AAK MP Time Kadrijaj criticizes the Kurti Government for its approach to dialogue, saying that it accepted harmful agreements for Kosovo.
The expert on international relations, Arbnor Sadiku says that the lack of progress in the dialogue was expected and that he does not expect this process to make any progress until after the election process in Kosovo.
Kosovo and Serbia have increased the agreement on the Brussels agreement in February 2023 and the Ohrid Annex in March of the same year, but so far it has not been implemented.
Part of the agreement is the establishment of an association with a Serbian majority, but the Government of Kosovo has not taken any steps for implementation. Despite the request of the international factor, the Government has said that the EU draft for the association is a "non paper" and as such will not be sent to the Constitutional Court.
