Many citizens have joined today the initiative to boycott supermarkets as a result of the continuous increase in prices. They support this initiative, emphasizing that the state must take measures to stop this phenomenon. The initiative has received support on social networks, where a group of citizens has been formed who have called for the boycott, which has gained support from more than 6 thousand citizens, while over 200 thousand others have been informed about it, KosovaPress reports.

Xhevat Kastrati, one of the founders of the initiative, said today that there have been reports from many citizens that this initiative is being respected, but he also mentioned that there are individuals who are not informed about the boycott due to the elections. Such an initiative was initially taken in several countries in the region, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia.

Citizens in Kosovo complain about high prices and price manipulation in some supermarkets.

Citizen Nexhmedin Llapashtica, who supports this initiative, says that boycotts are not enough, and that a greater reaction from the people is needed.

Citizen Refik Ramaj also says that the prices are extremely high and this initiative should be supported by everyone.

On the other hand, citizen Sevdije Hoti says that this initiative is appropriate, because as she says, prices are high.

However, this initiative will not end today, as according to the founders of the initiative, it will continue on other dates. The founder of the initiative, Xhevat Kastrati, says that for the next date they will be more organized to inform a larger number of citizens.

"We have numerous reports from citizens in our Facebook group, some say that there are people, but others say that people are not buying as much as usual. We now have over 6 thousand members on Facebook and at least they will respect the initiative. We also have reached over 200 thousand people on Instagram through our pledges and thousands of shares. I believe that we have managed to influence at least a little bit those who do not buy today... Based on the views, over 200 thousand citizens of Kosovo are informed. The elections have also affected that there was not much support for the initiative, so the first date. But, we will continue with initiatives, other dates", says Kastrati to KosovaPress.

Days ago, the president of the "Consumer" association, Selatin Kaçaniku, also supported the initiative, emphasizing that the era of fraud and speculative prices is over. He told KosovaPress that prices in Kosovo are rigged and should be lower than in the countries of origin, adding that Kosovo needs trade representatives who would monitor the progress of exports and imports.

We recall that, angered by the continued increase in prices, citizens of several Western Balkan countries were invited to boycott purchases in several large grocery stores at the end of January.
