A helicopter crash near Parma in northern Italy tonight has killed three people, including the director of the Rovagnati sausage production company.

The circumstances of the accident are currently unclear, but it is known that dense fog covered the area at the time the helicopter crashed on land owned by the Rovagnati family.

According to the Ansa agency and the daily newspaper La Stampa, one of the three victims is 41-year-old Lorenzo Rovagnati, who ran the company with his brother Ferrucci.

The company employs, according to their website, more than a thousand people worldwide and has branches in Belgium, France, Germany and the United States.
