Chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) Lumir Abdixhiku today visited the mayor of Peja Municipality Gazmend Muhaxheri, after the attack on him by people who have already been arrested.

Abdixhiku during this visit, he called on the law and order authorities to take the necessary and immediate steps to fully investigate the attack.

"We visited our friend Gazi and his family, at his house in Peja. We found him even stronger and even more determined in his exemplary mission of leading Peja - the city for which he works with courage, passion and inexhaustible energy. I call once again on the authorities of the order of justice to take the necessary and immediate steps in the complete disclosure of this low act; and in holding responsible the perpetrators who, with violence and intimidation, try to stop a free leader, with full will and energy", he wrote Abdixhiku on Facebook.

The Mayor of Peja Municipality, Gazmend Muhaxheri, was physically attacked this morning on "Bill Clinton" street in Peja.

Muhaxheri has announced that after the surprise attack he is in good health, thanking all those who are interested in his health.

The Basic Prosecutor's Office in Peja has provided additional details regarding the attack on the mayor of this municipality, Gazmend Muhaxheri.

Shkodran Nikçi, spokesperson of the Basic Prosecutor's Office in Peja, has informed KosovaPress that in this case two people were arrested, who after the interview were sent to custody for 48 hours.

"Currently, the prosecutor of the case is compiling the request for setting the measure of detention for two people, who have committed criminal offenses of assault on an official person and minor bodily injury", said Nikçi.

Also, in full coordination with the Kosovo Police, all necessary actions are being taken to clarify all the circumstances of this case.
