The university professor, Behxhet Mustafa, remembered the academician Feriz Krasniqi on the occasion of his death.

He said that with the death of Academician Feriz Krasniqi, we have lost a scientist and intellectual of not only national, but also international stature, as he added that he was the first doctor of botanical sciences in Kosovo.

The great man of family, knowledge, science and academic nation Feriz Krasniqi passed away on 26.01 at the age of 2024. With the change of life of Academician Feriz Krasniqi, we have lost a scientist and intellectual of not only national, but also international stature. He was the first doctor of botanical sciences in Kosovo. He is one of the first Albanian professors who started working as a teacher in the Department of Biology, University of Pristina. He was one of the founders of the University of Pristina, He was the founder of the herbarium and a professor for many generations in the Department of Biology. He was also announced as an emeritus professor by the rectorate of UP. All those who have been lucky enough to collaborate with Prof. Feriz, in various work and projects, highly appreciate his scientific and intellectual commitments and capacities. He was a person who communicated naturally with both students and colleagues. The professor was a person that when you stayed with him, you were surrounded by many friends. He was a person who warmed with friendship and knowledge at every point of the horizon. He was a person swimming in the sea of ​​infinite knowledge, science and friendship. It was a synonym of knowledge, science and friendship. He gave and received boundless knowledge and friendship in a solar greenhouse. He was among those who did not spare knowledge, advice, and help when a student, colleague, or friend was in need. He was one of those personalities who sacrificed himself for others. When you had a problem, you had him by your side, he stayed close to you. You were a man with a brilliant mind, unparalleled intellectual ability, a crystal heart, with a fragile character. He was a man with a statuesque honesty, a national pride, an arboreal love, an admiring culture, a rare modesty. He was a man who gave knowledge, kindness and happiness to others and did not ask for a reward. A man whose happiness and knowledge of others made him happy. An earthly man, not a cosmic one. So the man with these qualities was named Feriz Krasniqi. With his words, he sweetened every helmatization of conversations. With his culture and knowledge, he illuminated every professional, scientific and national problem. He was a man who knew how to swim in the ocean of knowledge in all depths.

With his scientific-research work, he crossed the borders of the country and the region. His research work has been finalized with the publication of his scientific articles in all journals of science academies from Slovenia to Macedonia, but also in other prestigious journals in the wider region. In these articles, new data are presented for the first time for many plant species and communities. Some species and plant communities bear his name. Collaborated with many centers and eminent scientists of different universities. In 1980, together with Professor Ûraber from Ljubljana, he managed to discover a new type of plant in Pashtrik, which was named Cynoglosum Krasniqi-Ûraber. This type grows only there and nowhere else in the world. Then the plant communities Quercetum fraineto cerris scardicum Krasniqi, Polygalo-Forsythietum europaeae Bleçiç – Krasniqi etc.

When literature in the Albanian language was most needed, the professor published the text "Plant Systematics" whose reviewers were the most prominent professors from Ljubljana and Belgrade. This made us happy and proud wherever we young people went to study, when we were told about him as a scientist of European rank. When we were with him, he would relax us, optimize us with ideas and messages. The more we stayed with him, the more we discovered his spiritual world, his greatness. It was his work, his behavior and his words that made us feel honored and privileged to be around him. In his archive you can find a mosaic of acknowledgments from educational, educational, scientific and governmental institutions. He was a scientist who gave a lot to the biological sciences. The world knows that the greatest botanist of all time was Karl Line, he is also called the father of taxonomy. It is universally known that the greatest botanist of all generations in Kosovo is Prof. Feriz Krasniqi, therefore he can rightly be called the father of botany in Kosovo or Karl Linneus of Kosovo. A man who was welcomed everywhere in every institution in Kosovo. It is not by chance that he was the vice-rector and rector of the University of Pristina in the most sensational years of this university, it is not by chance that he was elected a regular academician of ASHAK as well as a member of the leadership of Kosovo for eight years in the seventies and early eighties. With his commitment until the end of his life, he defied age, the last years of his life, wrote, published scientific articles and books, terminological dictionary, statements. He was idealistic and not at all materialistic. The professor shone everywhere he went, as a regular student at the University of Skopje, as a doctoral student at the University of Belgrade where he successfully defended his doctoral thesis before the five most prominent members of science in the field of taxonomy in the former Yugoslavia, as from the University of Belgrade, Ljubljana, Zagreb, Sarajevo, Skopje, shone as a professor at the University of Pristina and as an academic. The death of Professor Feriz is a great loss for all of us. Professor Feriz's family, former students and younger generations who read about his work and work, colleagues will be proud of him for life. Glory to his work and activity.
