Plovdiv hosted the third edition of the Urban Summer Festival 2024, which is being held on Friday and Saturday on the occasion of International Mavruda Day.

The wine festival is organized for the third time by the Bulgarian Association of Wine Professionals (BAWP), but the people of Plovdiv are celebrating the International Mavruda Day for the fifth year. In addition to the Urban Wine Festival 2024 in Plovdiv, until the end of October, various events dedicated to wine, tastings in bars and wine shops, wine dinners in restaurants, promotions in online stores and master classes will be held.

Plovdiv Urban Wine Festival 2024 will take place in the city center and will feature wine bars, culinary corners and caravans, as well as a music program.

A selection of 15 local varietals presented in different styles from 38 different wine producers will be available for wine tasting during the two days of the festival. Visitors will be able to choose between a glass and bottle of wine for consumption on site or to take home. BAWP wine experts will present the wines. Ten of the 38 wines will be from the Plovdiv region.

Traditionally, the festival will open with a musical performance by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Plovdiv, while during the rest, the musical program will include the performance of the Garbachev Quartet and DJ Manev.

In the last three years, the BAWP team organized a total of four urban wine festivals per year, called Urban Wine Fest, in four major cities of the country. The festival this year has already been held in the cities of Veliko Tarnovo, Varna and Sofia.

International Mavruda Day is an initiative of the Bulgarian Association of Wine Professionals, which brings together experts in every area of ​​the wine business, including oenologists and cellar owners, wine merchants, marketing specialists, wine tourism, export.

The event is held under the patronage of the Minister of Tourism, with the official support of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Municipality of Plovdiv. The festival is part of the events calendar of the city of Plovdiv and is financed by the Annual Program for the Development of Tourism in the Municipality of Plovdiv for 2024. /BTA
