The completion of the vote count for the parliamentary candidates for the February 9 parliamentary elections is expected to take up to two weeks.

This was stated by the Chairman of the CEC, Kreshnik Radoniqi, who added that during the same period of time, the evaluation of ballot packages from the diaspora will also take place.

The CEC announced today at its regular meeting the cancellation of 529 envelopes with ballots from the diaspora due to irregularities. Meanwhile, it was emphasized that the counting of votes for candidates for deputies in municipal counting centers has begun in 18 municipalities, while in eight more it will begin today.

The Chairman of the CEC, Kreshnik Radoniqi, said that since the counting has not started on time in all municipal centers, this process is expected to be concluded within ten days or a maximum of two weeks.

He also spoke about the "attack or interference" in the CEC system, saying that this issue is in the hands of the prosecution and the police, and as soon as they receive the report from these two institutions, they will come up with a position.

The Director of the Office for Registration, Certification and Financial Control of Political Parties, Besnik Buzhala, said that the delays in counting votes for candidates for deputies in municipal centers are occurring due to technical reasons.

In addition, Buzhala announced that the CEC has canceled 529 envelopes with ballots from the diaspora due to, as stated, irregularities that have occurred.

Regarding this data, CEC members from political parties reacted, with PDK member Arianit Elshani saying that the CEC should start publishing the results of parliamentary candidates from today.

CEC member from LDK, Sami Hamiti, asked the secretariat to have a plan B for counting the votes of candidates for deputies in case the electronic system fails again.

However, CEC member from the LVV, Alban Krasniqi, said that the vote counting process is going well. He said that some of the criticism about delays is completely wrong.
