With poetry, songs and dance today, the Municipality of Obiliq celebrated Kosovo's Independence Day. The "Xhavit Haziri" Culture House was filled to capacity with citizens who had the opportunity to have fun under the sounds of music.

Ibush Mjekiqi, Deputy Mayor of Obiliq Municipality, was present. He said that on this day, we should remember the sacrifices of those who paved the way for today's Kosovo.

"This is a day that reminds us of the difficult path we have traveled to get here. On this day we remember all those who gave their lives for this country. Today we have a duty to build on their sacrifice by building a strong Kosovo.", he said.

The celebratory program continued with other musical and poetic pieces. This concert was made possible by the Directorate of Culture in collaboration with the “17 Shkurti” High School.

Today, the Mayor of Obiliq, Xhafer Gashi, together with the municipal staff, paid homage at the memorial plaque of the nation's failures in Obiliq, as a sign of respect and gratitude for the sacrifice of those who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of Kosovo.

During the ceremony, Mayor Gashi bowed for a few moments before the statue, expressing his respect for those who sacrificed themselves for the future of the country.

As part of this celebration, the Municipal Assembly of the Municipality of Obiliq organized a solemn session which began with a minute of silence for the fallen of the last war in Kosovo.
