The red and black flag has been raised in the building of the Albanian National Council in Lugina, to mark the 110th anniversary of Albania's Independence. President Ragmi Mustafi has said that they will continue the political and legal battle for the legalization of Albanian national symbols.
Musafi, while congratulating November 28, remembered the sacrifice of the Albanians in Presheva, Bujanoc and Medvegja.
"Even today, as four years in a row, from the position of the president of this institution, we decided to wave the national flag in the Albanian National Council. In honor of the sacrifice of the Albanians in Presheva, Bujanoc and Medvegja. Despite the persecution of the Serbian authorities and the ban by law. Placing the national flag next to the Serbian one for a day as a silent compromise of not developing the misdemeanor procedures is not a solution. Not even the installation, only the national flag for a single day. The very banning of the Albanian national flag by law is a smearing of it by the state. It is not up to the state to select the identity features of different ethnic/national communities", Mustafi wrote on Facebook.
He said that it is the discriminatory laws that need to be changed, not the national symbols.
"The Albanian National Council will continue the political and legal battle for the legalization of Albanian national symbols. Our symbols. No changes. No differences. National symbols should not be changed! It is the discriminatory laws that need to be changed! The Albanian national flag will fly in the Presheva Valley! Always, always, forever! Congratulations on November 28 - Flag Day", he concluded.
On November 28, Albanians celebrate Flag Day, the anniversary of the birth of the legendary commander, as well as remember the first public appearance of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
