Mykhailo Mudryk has vowed to prove his innocence after testing positive for a banned substance. Chelsea confirmed on Tuesday that Mudryk has failed a drug test following a "negative finding in a routine urine test".
But the Ukrainian representative denies that he knowingly used any banned substance.
"I can confirm that I have been notified that a sample I gave to the federation contains a prohibited substance." This has come as a complete shock to me as I have not knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules, I am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened. I know that I have not done anything wrong and so I have hope that I will soon return to the field", said Mudryk.
Reports say Mudryk is still awaiting the result of a B sample, but if the findings are confirmed then the 23-year-old could face a lengthy ban.
