The Ministry of Internal Affairs of North Macedonia has announced that several educational institutions in Skopje and other cities in the country have been evacuated due to reports of explosive devices being placed.
As local media reports, reports of the placement of explosive devices were received this morning in the official emails of educational institutions, Anadolu reports.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs said that there have been bomb threats at several schools at Skopje Airport, in the Municipality of Qendër and in Shtip.
Following the reports, police at the scene took measures for the safe evacuation of students and employees.
The mayor of Stip, Ivan Jordanov, has said that these reports are false. He called it a "cyber attack" intended to cause unrest among teachers and students.Bomb threats have also been reported at schools in Tetovo, Ohrid and Kumanovo.
In many schools, following inspections by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, classes have resumed, while more information regarding these incidents is expected during the day.
We recall that similar threats to place explosive devices in schools, institutions and other places, mainly in Skopje, occurred at the end of 2022, culminating on December 16 of that year when among the targets was the hotel where an event was organized with the participation of former Prime Minister Dimitar Kovačevski, which was consequently canceled, as well as the Skopje International Airport.
At that time, the competent authorities, after checking, found that all the threats were false.
