La Gazzetta dello Sport confirm that Lazio have had an opening bid rejected by Manchester United for Mason Greenwood, but the Red Devils are in a rush to sell the England winger, so Claudio Lotito will send them a ultimatum.
Greenwood has emerged as the main transfer target for Serie A clubs Juventus and Lazio, but Lazio has already sent an opening offer for the Englishman, KosovaPress reports.
Both papers report that Lazio offered €20m plus a 50% sell-on clause, but United rejected it.
However, the 22-year-old has not been part of the Red Devils' plans since he was accused of attempted rape in 2022. Even if prosecutors dropped the case against him next year, the Premier League club have not changed their stance.
Both United and Lazio start pre-season on July 8, and according to the Gazzetta, the Red Devils want to part company with Greenwood before that date.
Lazio, on the other hand, are unwilling to increase their offer and match United's €35 million asking price, so they will resubmit the same offer, saying it will be valid until July 10.
Lazio will hope that this will force the Red Devils to agree to their terms, given that no Premier League club is interested in the Englishman and that Manchester United have yet to receive offers from other clubs.
According to the report, Marseille and Benfica are among the clubs most interested in Greenwood, but have yet to send an official offer.
Lazio are said to be ready to offer Greenwood a €3.5m-per-year contract plus €500,000 in add-ons.
