The special envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, met at the end of his mandate with the newly elected European Union envoy for this position, Peter Sorensen.
He wrote in X that talks on handover are underway at full intensity, as he said, to ensure a smooth transition.
Sorensen was selected by the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.
He will start work at the beginning of February.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo also congratulated him on his new position on Tuesday, Besnik Bislimi who said that a balanced approach to the parties in the dialogue is a prerequisite for success.Meanwhile, the mandate of the current EU envoy for the dialogue, Miroslav Lajčák, will end on January 31.
Leading with Lajcak in this process, Kosovo and Serbia have reached the Brussels Basic Agreement and the Ohrid Annex in 2023, but have not yet found a implementation.
Kosovo and Serbia have been negotiating for the normalization of relations since 2011.
A new and more equal approach is expected in Kosovo from Danish diplomat Peter Sorensen.
However, according to analysts, the bloc must design the dialogue as a whole and not just change the names that facilitate this process./KosovaPress
