Support for categories emerging from the war, improving the conditions of members of the Kosovo Police and the Kosovo Security Force, are the priorities of former AAK MP, Lahi Brahimaj, who aims to return to the Kosovo Assembly in the ninth legislature.
As in war, now in peace, General Brahimaj says he will be the voice of his former comrades-in-arms and will work for the interests of the independent state of Kosovo.
With the number 90, as part of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Brahimaj has entered the race for the general elections on February 9.
"I strongly believe, thanks to the support we are encountering everywhere in every part of Kosovo, I will be an MP, and in coordination with the war associations I will raise the voice of fellow fighters, families of martyrs, veterans, war invalids, the missing. I mean the categories that emerged from the war. This would be primary - the categories that emerged from the war, but no matter what, I will support every initiative of every parliamentary group that is for the good of the people as an MP, but also as a parliamentary group of AAK," says Brahimaj, who had previously faced legal proceedings at the Hague Tribunal, from which he was found not guilty.
Brahimaj says that with AAK in government, the security aspect in the country will be treated seriously."The security of the country should be done differently, not every day ad-hoc decisions are made for a political interest, or a handful of votes are made to make quick, hasty and unconsulted decisions, bypassing the legal procedures of the state to which we belong. Many times, decisions or steps have been taken by the police that sound nice, but legal procedures have not been respected. These could have happened the same, but only by respecting legal procedures, and of course these should not happen in any government, and certainly they will not happen in the government that I believe will be led by Prime Minister Haradinaj", Brahimaj says.
Brahimaj emphasizes that his decisions as a future member of the Kosovo Assembly will only be for the good of the country and never influenced by any interest.
"I have never changed like when I was a member of the Kosovo Liberation Army, the Kosovo Protection Corps, the deputy that I was, but even in the mandate that I lost by a few votes, I was the same and I do not change for any kind of interest. What I value, I am not influenced by anyone whether I should vote or not. If I value it as harmful, I do not vote for it," says Brahimaj.
From the position of MP, Brahimaj says that he will always support improving the conditions of members of the KSF and the Kosovo Police.
The former KLA member also promises the return of hazard pay for police officers and firefighters."I would give them two uniforms, I would give them the best food, I would give them three or four choices on the menu, not just a sardine or a pâté, they should have two or three choices in reserve. We also have it for the police in the north... the conditions of every soldier and every policeman must be met. Of course, for the Kosovo Police, the riskiness in the work that has been removed will return, for firefighters and all categories that deserve security pay, it will return to the way it was, at least with what it was or even with an increase in the quota, or the price of how much the riskiness will be", declares ai.
Brahimaj also aims to support the agricultural sector - a sector to which he dedicated a good portion of his time.
"Of course we will look at the agricultural sector, subsidies, grants should be changed, they should be advanced, they should be received by deserving people, but not like what is happening, family members. In the last campaign, Albin Kurti said that family members are for weddings, not for the government, he sent some of them to the government, those who he did not send to the government he gave 100 thousand euros in grants and subsidies. We will try to vote for what is in the interest of the citizen, those that we think are not in the interest of the citizens, we will certainly not vote for", Brahimaj emphasizes.
The election campaign for the general elections began on January 11, while on February 9, the citizens of Kosovo will vote to elect a new leadership.
